JUNE 7 COMADRAZO

Greetings, #MyComadres!

This month we gather to network and celebrate the beginning of Summer!

We are also donating toiletries and female undergarments to The Women’s Project, which helps homeless women in our city.  Comadre Miriam Gonzalez will join us and take our contributions to the shelter.  For more information on the Project, visit www.gsecdc.org.

JUNE OUTINGS.  Let’s start with the June 12 (Tues) Museum Mile Festival from 6-9pm. Let’s meet at 6:00pm across the street from the Guggenheim Museum at 1071 Fifth Avenue (88th Street).  Look for Comadre Maria Ferrer.  For more ideas on outings and links to interesting events, see back of this page.

BOOK OF THE MONTH.  EVERYBODY KNOWS YOU GO HOME by Natalia Sylvester (Litte A).  It’s a fanciful story about a father-in-law who appears every year on the Day of the Dead to his new daughter-in-law asking for her help in reconciling with his estrange son. Set amid a Texas border town, run ins with immigration officers is common.  ATTENTION:  Amazon has the kindle copy on sale for $1.99 right now. Get your copy today.

Mark your calendar for Monday, June 25, for the Book Club Teleconference, where we’ll chat with author Natalia Sylvester about ghosts, in laws, Mexican border, writing process, etc.  Register for free at www.latinolit.com.  Listen in on the conversation at home, at work, out with friends. Listen in as you wash dishes or have dinner or hang out with your Comadres.  AND join the simultaneous Twitter Chat by following @ReadLatinoLit and using hashtag #ReadLatinoLit.

Wait for it!  Las Comadres & Friends National Latino Book Club will be releasing its Summer Reading List on June 21st , the first official day of Summer.  Visit www.latinolit.com for the full list.
