February 6 (Tuesday) – COMADRAZO – WEAR RED!

Join us on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 6:00pm at the American Diabetes Association at 333 7th Avenue, btwn 28 & 29 streets.

Remember to bring your ID, a friend or two, and something to eat /drink and share. And, to wear RED.

February 20 (Tuesday) – NEW!  TWITTER BOOK CLUB CHAT

NEW!  We are starting an online Twitter Book Club Chat on Tuesday, February 20, 6:30pm EST.   Follow us at @ReadLatinoLit, and please use our hashtags #ReadLatinoLit and #MyComadres.

Our Book of the Month is THAT WAS THEN by Julia Amante. 

Book Summary:  Dr. Grace Montoya won a battle with cancer five years earlier, but now she is sick again, and while Grace thinks it’s time to pass down lessons to her daughters before it’s too late, those who love her plan to save her. Her colleagues have medical cures, her mother has made a deal with God, but it’s her 17-year-old daughter, Jessica who devises the most unexpected medicine of all – finding her Mom’s true love.

Every month we chat with our Author of the Month. On Monday, February 26, 8:00pm EST, we’ll be chatting with author Julia Amante (THAT WAS THEN).  Members are welcomed to send in questions on the book or the author.

Here is our calendar of events for January 2018:


Jan 4 (thurs)— An Evening with Author Erika Sanchez, 6:00pm, Solas Bar, 232 East 9th Street.  Free admission. Cash Bar. Bring friend and munchies to share.


Jan 5 (fri)— Three Kings Day Parade. Meet at 10:30am at El Museo del Barrio (1230 5th Ave at 105 St). We’ll end with lunch at La Fonda.  If you are interested, please email us at lascomadresNY@gmail.com so we have accurate number for restaurant. 


Jan 9 (tues)— Comadrazo Birthday Celebration
6:00pm Institutional Investor (1120 6th Ave at 43rd St).  
We are celebrating the New Year and everybody’s birthday!  
We’ll provide the cake! You bring ID, munchies to share AND a small birthday gift for a fellow Comadre.  Watch for the Eventbrite invitation coming soon


Jan 16 (tues)— Comadres Book Club Meeting, 6:00pm, Atrium Lobby, Philip Morris Bldg, 120 Park Ave at 42nd Street (across from Grand Central Station). Look for Comadres table. Our first book of the year is IT'S NEWS TO ME by Olga Campos Benz.


Jan 27 (sat)— Mosaic Workshop with El Barrio artist Manny Vega. Cost= $25. Workshop is limited to 15 people. If you are interested, please email us at lascomadresny@gmail.com

Happy Hispanic Heritage Everything! We celebrate our Latinidad all year long!

Many thanks to Comadre Kimberly Hernandez and Univision for hosting us this month.

It’s a fascinating tale of a Nazi family who flees to Bolivia after WWII and then embarks on an expedition to search for the lost Inca city of Paititi.  It’s a family’s voyage of discovery with unexpected consequences.
